I believe I have missed most of his early toddler months on here... horrible.
Finn has become the most enjoyable little creature this side of Mississippi. He is walking now - started at 13 - 14 months. He is almost 18months now and is running, walking backwards, spinning (quite good at this), and a bit of a jump. Today he had a lot of daddy time and I came home to find him spinning to 80's rock :).... I love it when he gets daddy time as his play and his energy is completely different! He is more autonomous and rambunctious....interesting.
We have done and taking him to so many different experiences. The zoo holds his attention on another level now that he can make the animal sounds and understand what it is that he is seeing. We go to the park, the Children's Museum, Barnes and Noble has a great children's area, we go swimming at the pool or at Grammy and Grandpa's, etc. Sometimes I can hold his little hand walk with him down to the greenbelt near our house. It takes forever, but is so sweet. He stops for rocks, he points up at the planes overhead, he smells the flowers, he touches new rock surfaces, and of course oggles at big trucks going by. He is so curious and I try to embrace this and let him explore as much as possible.
He LOVES books (thanks to auntie Heidi's donated collection). We read so many books a day. I love how attentive he becomes when I read to him. He is learning so many words and can comprehend even more... below is a quasi-list:
Ball, kitty, mamma, daddy, baba (baby), shoes, apple, grass (just today), wet, up, down, keys, eat, walk, hi, bye (his favorites), ice, 'shut' and gate... there may be more.
The animal sounds he makes:
trumpet like an elephant (he curls his hand up to his nose and says "mrrrr"
meow, haw haw (for doggie), rawr (for lots of animals), flaps his wings for a birdie, hisss for a snake, puckers for a fish, oinks for a piggie, awooooo for a wolf, my favorite "gogeegogeego" for a duck, and whoooo whoooo for an owl... again, I may be missing some.
The little man still fights sleep but I think we have somewhat of a schedule. He loves to be active and would prefer to run rather than be a 'lap-kitty'. I believe he is unbelievably smart!!!! No matter how difficult the day might have been - or how exhausted, I find myself wanting to go back in and hold him once he is asleep. I love reminiscing over the funny things he does each day at the end of the day. I wish I could keep him at this age forever and not let go of that innocence and beautiful babble-talk that he is so fluent in.
