Yo ho ho
Snowy weekend up in Flagstaff. Finn love the concept of throwing snowballs at mommy and daddy, but smashes the beginnings of any bold snowman. We had a good time, though sleep deprived. We got to see old friends an shared warm Thai food while Finn showed off his knowledge of the Hubble spacecraft. The winning quote from the weekend was a little sea ditty espoused by Salty the train..."yo ho ho and a bucket of prawns. The tiller spins and the captain yawns." So funny to hear him sing this out of the blue!

Once Upon a Train...
Literally our child said this. I'm not sure if you can get more obsessive than this:). This is a short iPhone entry so I will post a few pics fro our venture to Lowell Observatory to night. It was cold and I fortunately still had Finn's astronaut suit in the trunk! Bamm! Instant awesome!

Pumpkin Patch Train!
So Finn is now 2.5 and it's almost Halloween. We decided to drive to Williams make an event out of the pumpkin patch train. As usual the buildup was exhilarating but on the train Finnegan like if a deer in the headlights of an oncoming train. We had a blast and tooled around the quaint little town of Williams. Here are a few pics from the pumpkin patch!

Scorpions
So I'm not sure if it is a good thing that Finn is familiar enough with scorpions to not be shocked out of his senses as I am every time I see one... The other day, Finn and I were walking through the laundry room to the garage when I saw a baby scorpion perched in the middle of the floor, tail raised, and Finn's foot about to land on top of it. It was dark and hard to recognize buy I stopped him just in time and set Finn aside while I turned on the light. I scscreamed a few obscenities and smashed the evil- minion of Satan with my show. At which point Finn calmly glanced up at me and said, "that was exciting"!

Cooking with Finn
I was cooking dinner and Finn looked at the tofu I just pulled out and said, "oh hey, I'm going to get in trouble with that tofu!"
Then he proceeded to make a "French dinner" see picture below:

Approaching Two...
Oh My....
The beast has become an independent little guy now. He is as mobile as I will ever be and about as communicative as any politician could aspire to. We just reached the "Hey, I can get out of this piece of crap (crawl out of the crib)" marker and I think I am getting a bit frazzled as to finding a 'safe' spot with the little guy. The crib was a place that I knew he was safe in - but that has changed faster than I had planned. WHen he wakes from his nap, he leaps out of the crib by swinging one leg over to hoist, and soars like a gymnast flawlessly. All this occurs before i can reach the top of the stairs. He swings the door open proudly with a, "Hi!" Adorable, proud, and frightening :)
The Finnster knows so many words, can articulate sentences, can name the planets (including the much missed 'Pluto'), can count to 20, knows all of his shapes, climbs up ladders and slides that reach above my head, and can disappear from my line of sight in under 4 seconds. The days leave me exhausted and exhilarated simultaneously. He is a smart little man... bordering on scary smart.
Love the little guy! Here a few pics:
